It's Gone

It's been 6 weeks and the final release came today. The Doc showed me 6 exercises I should do to increase strength and flexibility. I said, "Last time I broke my wrist I kneaded bread every day." "Didn't you gain a lot of weight?" He said. "No - No, I kneaded, not needed," says I.

The splint was better than a cast but now it's gone.

The last few weeks I have been getting out a bit more.
Lots of flat trails at Lake Mead with no scrambling necessary.

Actually the rocks here are grey and the color is all in the light.

Shakespeare & the Mountains

Trudy and I are just back from a trip to the Utah Shakespeare Festival and an excellent performance of “Coriolanus” in a reproduction of the original Globe Theatre. Started in 1962 it reminds us of the Stratford Ontario Festival

Main Overlook – Cedar Breaks, Utah

We went for a hike up the mountain in Cedar Breaks, an amazing canyon on the Virgin River . It's just above Zion Canyon and has hoodoos instead of cliffs.

In the woods at Cedar Breaks – above 10,000’

Around 10,000' there are numerous alpine meadows separated by woodlands that are very similar to the Adirondacks.

Scott’s Pond Adirondacks NY – 3500’

The similarity to one of my favorite spots in the Adirondacks is uncanny.

The Alpine Meadows up high in Utah have no real Eastern equivalent. I can only guess what it would be like up here after a winter storm. Maybe I have to go back to find out.
